Debt Settlement

Debt Settlement

Do you find yourself entangled in and inextricable from a vicious debt trap? Well, then you have some options to free yourself from its clutches. The solution has manifested in the form of the 2008 economic recession, which brought with it a mixed bag of hope and despair. While people bore the brunt of recession, they also witnessed an unexpected openness of credit card companies towards debt settlement and debt negotiation. This is given these companies' realization that the credit bubble will burst anytime soon. This situation renewed the scope for credit settlement and negotiation for debtors.

Debt Settlement: How It Works
The debt settlement process begins with the debtor approaching a debt counsellor, who suggests a solution, such as recommending him to a debt settlement company. The company identifies the debtor’s unique problems and needs, and chalks out a customized plan of action for the individual. Then, the company contacts the customer’s creditor and negotiates the balance amount. A final negotiated amount is reached upon, which is normally 40-60% lesser than the original balance amount. A suitable payment plan for the individual is also drawn. This amount must be paid by the debtor, as per the plan, in installments or up front. For making up front payments, the client must have the requisite amount or chalk out a plan to generate that amount. Debt relief companies also help individuals in creating that savings plan, which can be followed religiously to generate the required money. When the individual has generated enough money, he can pay the requisite amount to the creditor and close the account.

Debt Settlement: Tips for Debt Reduction
Here are some tips to help debtors create considerable savings and decrease debts:
Control Debt Increase: Completely refrain from using loaned money for spending. Do not opt for any new credit cards or shopping cards, however tempting they are. This can help prevent further increase in your debt.
Shift to a Single Low-Interest Account: Move all your high interest credit card accounts or loans to a single low-interest account. Researching on the Internet can help you find the best low-interest credit or loan issuers. Make all your pending payments using this low-interest credit card. Also, do not use the account for spending.
Maximum Credit Payments: Make maximum payments towards your credit card bills to eliminate debt quickly. Also, pay off home loans or mortgage through increased monthly payments or pre-payments.

High School Record

High School Record

High School Record
directed by Ben Wolfinsohn
2005, 75 minutes, USA
Factory 25

Where the Wild Things Are tried to emulate the untamed insecurities of childhood via impressionist sun flares and the pageantry of imagination, but it was a blockbuster rumpus too overearnest and laboriously designed to evoke such emotional authenticity. Far more successful in exposing the raw-nerve anxieties of youth onscreen is an older, rougher, hipper kind of wild thing altogether, Ben Wolfinsohn"s High School Record, which could still be about King Max if he grew up to be a confused, complicated teenager who finally discovered garage rock. Neither caricatured like Napoleon Dynamite and its whitewashed imitators with hand-drawn titles, nor played for teens-gone-wild shock value (Afterschool, Kids), Wolfinsohn"s naturalistic, semi-improvised series of awkward comic vignettes at a performing arts school absolutely nails the liberating/frightening social moments of post-pubescence in all their riches of embarrassments. Having not seen the inside of a locker since the mid-"90s (which reminds me of some sample dialogue that ages me, between two girls who hooked up with the same dude: "You wanna be his girlfriend now? That"s so "90s!"), I still recognized enough of my younger unsure self that I was occasionally and unexpectedly laughing aloud.

Hulu PLans to Start Charging for Its Content

Hulu PLans to Start Charging for Its Content

Ben Parr over at Mashable had a piece this week about the persistent rumors that Hulu would soon start charging for its content. Now those rumors are sounding more like a sure thing. At a broadcasting summit in New York today, News Corp. Deputy Chairman Chase Carey declared that "it"s time to start getting paid for broadcast content online."The Inquisitr said much the same thing.

Wikipedia describes Hulu as "a website that offers commercial-supported streaming video of TV shows and movies from NBC, Fox, ABC and many other networks and studios." Hulu uses video in Flash format. It also provides web syndication services for other websites including AOL, MSN, MySpace, Facebook, Yahoo!, and Comcast"s fancast.com.

Until now the service has been free.

Cellphone for kids and elderly

Cellphone for kids and elderly

I do not know how I would react if my grandchild were to gift me a "for-elderly-only" gadget that would have nothing but the bare essentials, with the statement "The xxx device is the current rage Grandma, but I thought you needed one that"s as simple to get around as ABC". One thing I know for certain - I would be saddened by my age being automatically assigned with a diminished learning ability. But for now, it gives me some hope to think that I am still several years away from that possibility and I resolve now to remain somewhat open to the idea, if ever. Sigh.

The iNo CP09 is another such GSM cellphone for kids and elderly that tears down the features to a minimum - a basic calculator-like screen with a large font display, large buttons, FM radio, torch light, headphone jack, and text messaging. And since both the categories of people are often imagined courting emergencies, there is an SOS button which when pressed sends a text alarm to a configured number and calls that number. Along with letting out a loud siren. Imagine the havoc a child could create with that. Whew.

The iNo Mobile is available exclusively in Singapore at $78.

Paul & Joe Holiday 2009 Collection

Paul & Joe Holiday 2009 Collection

(images/info from www.paul-joe-beaute.com)

A few days ago, I happened to see Paul & Joe"s holiday collection in Harrods. (I didn"t expect such an early launch in the UK.) I spent some time testing out the items, and I think most of them are quite wearable. The eye palette in 001 and the two loose powder eyeshadows should be great for creating smoky eyes .

According to the Paul & Joe (English) website, the eye palettes and the eyeliners as well as the loose powder eyeshadows and the face powders are sold as sets in Japan while all of them are sold separately in the UK and the US.

All the makeup items (and the two makeup pouches and the jewelry box) are currently available in Harrods, except the new Lip Lacquer. It will be launched later, along with the repackaged fragrances (Paul & Joe Bleu & Blanc) and the two bodycare items (Body Milk and Body Treatment Oil). (I have had Paul & Joe Blanc for a few years and I am planning to review it later.)

I quite like the colors of the packaging, as purple and gold do make a lovely combination. (But I think I would like the packaging even more if the patterns were a little more delicate.) By the way, the jewelry box retails for 15 pounds, which I think is relatively reasonable.

Other seasonal collections from Paul & Joe:

Okoro is the media PC you need

Okoro is the media PC you need

The above picture shows the two new Okoros that are set to hit the market as from now, in comparison to a coke can; yes they ARE theat small, pretty impressive stuff really. The ultra small one features an Intel Atom processor with nVidia ION graphics engine, whereas the bigg'un uses a Core 2 Duo processor usually found in laptops, yet the 1.2k USD starting price might put you off the thing.

Worth a look if you are in the market for a ready built HTPC

Dell Pulls Bait and Switch

Dell Pulls Bait and Switch

Apparently, the powers that be at Del thought it would be a great idea to team up with nail polish maker OPI to create 26 new colors and patterns for the Dell Design Studio. I mean it"s great that you can coordinate your laptop with your favorite nail color, but with news of the Adamo scares, this seems like a total letdown.

Contemporary wedding cards

Contemporary wedding cards
If the wedding is a modern affair, even the wedding card should be contemporary. In fact it is the way the wedding card is presented that one is able to judge what kind of a wedding will take place. Sometimes it is the budget that decided what kind of wedding cards will reach the guests. Often people are confused. If the wedding is a serious affair then the card should be classic. The main ceremony can be modern but the card should look like it is announcing something special. Well it need not be this way! Contemporary wedding cards are also capable of creating the right mood and impression provided they are done with care.

Even in the newest trends one can still use elegant and fancy fonts, as along as they are legible. Esy to read and understand makes it clearer. A white card embossed with dark grey letters can look very subtle. The same white card can also have letters in red, the colour of passion. Catholics chose pristine white or ivory colors to announce the bridal couple. The choice of modern Indian wedding cards is more likely to avoid the colourful miniature paintings. A simple hand paper in light cream, beige with maroon calligraphic letters is common. Along with the wedding card the wedding envelope also has the same theme running. These letters have the gold or silver shine to it and are done in art paper.
Some people wonder why Indian wedding cards are so big and long with so many names. The great Indian family celebrates weddings as a joint venture. Everyone partakes in the event. So a typical contemporary wedding card will have:

1. Names of the parents or grand parents (if they are alive) requesting the guest to attend the functions.
2. The names of the bride and groom are added after that.
3. In some communities the names of the maternal uncles and cousins also merit a mention.
4. The credit titles include someone special too! Only if they have facilitated the wedding!
5. The various functions leading to the grand finale will also be written.
6. For an average middle family most functions are held at home or in a wedding hall.
7. Address and contacts for RSVP are given too.

The shape of the wedding cards also can be different, but most couples stick to rectangular or square shapes.
